RICO

Who is that guy? - he's not in the band, but he's always hanging around.

Relaxing ? at home.....

...... it's that serious look !

Rico filled in (like the old days) with the Cranstons on 2/28/98 for the show with Jimmy Thackery in Iowa after Jeff Rogers left the band AND before we got Jim Novak back on the kit. Although Rico sits in now and then for a few songs, it was the first time playing a whole night in well over 15 years (not counting one weekend about 5 years ago).....

Okay, what's Rico doing with Willie?.... well, I caught up with him recently in St. Cloud, Minnesota at his gig at the Civic Center. We had a blast and the show was great... watch for the review I wrote in the April issue of the Twin Cities Blues News.

People keep asking me if we're related. ??

Rico handles the management, promotion, publicity, merchandising, etc.

Rico's connection goes way back..... Rico, Larry and Pat all grew up together and went to school together. Rico was the first drummer to ever play with Pat and Larry. While in high school, Rico, Larry and Pat first started the typical hometown band that would be destined to play at all of the high school parties and functions. Starting with such songs as covers by The Yardbirds, The Stones, Cream, The Animals and a few 'we don't talk about' originals, the band soon started realizing that these same groups were in fact, taking their covers from the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Albert King, etc. Once the blues was in the blood, that was it. "We were called 'The Moon' back then, we played psychedelic music with feedback and the whole works". "We had ONE homemade strobe light and we used to make people sick, literally". "People would be drinking heavy and as soon as they'd step into the room with the strobe light, it didn't take long". It was the 60's. That dramatic start was soon to become the beginnings of The Lamont Cranston Band.

Throughout most of the 70's, Rico took to the controls as lead vocalist and guitarist (although starting out as the drummer of the group) of 'The Lake Street Stink Band'. This band also had many credits to their name, sharing the stage with such greats as Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, Big Mama Thornton and many more. Their 'southern country blues' style made them a favorite all over the Midwest, as well as in Colorado.
