Yes...... the Cranstons finally got the call from Aykroyd to appear on the bill on the grand opening night of the new Chicago House Of Blues. They opened the show for Hot Tuna Electric on Monday, November 25, 1996.

**The band made history when they were the 1st band to play the 1st note to the 1st paying crowd on grand opening night of the new Chicago House Of Blues.

We all got to go to the Grand Opening Bash the night before, with The Blues Brothers, Lonne Brooks, Magic Slim & The Teardrops, and more. Another fine party. We strolled around the place. Thought I saw Cher in the distance.

Dan even asked Pat if he would like to produce the next Blues Brothers CD in the spring of '97, but things changed and it never did happen.

Backstage grand opening night, Rico and Pat visit with pal Dan Aykroyd. The last time the trio got together was in the summer of '95, when Dan was in Minneapolis filming "Feeling Minnesota", and before that, the grand opening of the Hollywood House Of Blues in April of '94, when Pat and Rico were special invited guests of Mr. Elwood Blues for the weekend's festivities.

After the show Elwood came back to say hi to the band.

Ted "Lightning Boy" Larsen of The Big Bang filled in for absent Cranston guitarist Larry Hayes when he couldn't make the trip.

Andy Bailey

Andy Bailey made the trip to deliver his screaming organ and piano solos that has become a trademark with the Cranstons. Even though Andy left the band in September, he was invited along for the show.
